6 Legendary iPhone Pro Max Colors, Year by Year

Which iPhone Pro Max colors belong to which year, from Sierra Blue to Burgundy

The signature iPhone Pro Max colors run to six across 2021–2026, from Sierra Blue on the iPhone 13 Pro Max to Burgundy on the new iPhone 18 Pro Max, which starts at THB 52,900 in Thailand. The quietest stretch was the two titanium years, 2023 and 2024.

Every signature iPhone Pro Max color by year

Which finish belongs to which generation, and how each one reads:

Year Model Signature color Tone
2021 iPhone 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue Pale grey-blue
2022 iPhone 14 Pro Max Deep Purple Saturated deep purple
2023 iPhone 15 Pro Max Natural Titanium Raw titanium grey
2024 iPhone 16 Pro Max Desert Titanium Warm sand-gold
2025 iPhone 17 Pro Max Cosmic Orange Bright orange
2026 iPhone 18 Pro Max Burgundy Deep wine red

Current-generation colour names from Apple Store Thailand, checked 10 September 2026.

Why Apple changes the signature color every year

The signature colour works as a model badge. Anyone who sees a deep purple iPhone reads it as a 2022 model, and an orange one as 2025. That is why Apple never repeats a hero colour in consecutive years.

It also gives people a visible reason to upgrade. The colour is the one change everyone around you notices immediately, unlike a chip or a camera sensor.

How many colors does the iPhone 18 Pro Max come in?

Four, as Apple lists them:

  • Burgundy — the hero finish, a deep wine red closer to dark cherry than bright red

  • Glacier — a pale blue, new this year

  • Silver — the neutral that carries over each generation

  • Black — the safest tone in the line

Against last year’s Cosmic Orange, the difference is loudness. Orange announces a new phone from across a room. Burgundy needs proximity before it reads as anything other than black — quieter, but still not a colour anyone else has.

Which color to choose if you keep a phone for years

Signature colours age in two ways. Statement finishes such as Deep Purple and Cosmic Orange tell everyone exactly which year the phone is from — flattering while it is new, less so three years later.

Neutral finishes such as Natural Titanium and Desert Titanium are harder to date, so they keep looking current for longer. Keep a phone three or four years and the neutrals are the safer buy; upgrade annually and the statement colours cost you nothing.

One more thing worth knowing: Cosmic Orange does not carry into the 2026 line. Apple dropped it from the new Pro range, so it is only available on iPhone 17 Pro Max stock. There is no official resale data broken down by colour, so this is an observation about how the finishes read, not a claim about value.

iPhone Pro Max colors FAQ

Which iPhone was Sierra Blue?

The iPhone 13 Pro Max, in 2021. A pale grey-blue finish.

What colors does the iPhone 18 Pro Max come in?

Burgundy, Glacier, Silver and Black, with Burgundy as the hero finish.

Can I still buy Cosmic Orange new?

Not in the iPhone 18 Pro line. It belongs to the iPhone 17 Pro Max generation from 2025.

How much is the iPhone 18 Pro Max in Thailand?

From THB 52,900. The 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro starts at THB 48,900.

So which one is the real signature?

Upgrade every year and the hero colour is the better buy, because you get the full run of its moment. Keep the phone longer and titanium or black holds up better. Burgundy sits between the two: distinct enough to read as new, restrained enough not to date quickly.
