Rimowa Hybrid in Gloss Stone Beige: the Price in Five Markets, and What It Really Costs After Tax Refunds

Rimowa introduced Gloss Stone Beige to the Hybrid line in August 2026, in three sizes: Cabin at 37 litres, Check-In L at 84 litres and Trunk Plus at 101 litres. Thai list prices are THB 39,300, THB 48,800 and THB 63,500. Across the five markets compared here, Sweden carries the lowest shelf price and Singapore the highest — but once tourist tax refunds are applied, the Rimowa Hybrid ranking changes.

How many sizes does Rimowa Hybrid Stone come in, and how does the line differ?

Gloss Stone Beige is offered in three sizes: the 37-litre Cabin for carry-on, the 84-litre Check-In L, and the 101-litre Trunk Plus in an upright wardrobe shape. What separates the Hybrid line is construction: a lightweight polycarbonate shell paired with an anodised aluminium frame and corners, which gives the metal presence of the Original line at lower weight. Which Markets Refund the Tax, and Which Do Not

Every shelf price above already includes consumption tax, at a different rate in each market: 7% VAT in Thailand, 9% GST in Singapore, 10% consumption tax in Japan, 20% VAT in the United Kingdom and 25% in Sweden, the highest of the five. The sticker therefore says very little about what Rimowa actually charges for the product.

Visitors can reclaim that tax in Singapore through the eTRS system, in Japan at licensed retailers, and in Sweden as an EU member state. Sweden sets a minimum purchase of SEK 200, requires the buyer to carry the goods out of the EU before the end of the third month following the month of purchase, and requires a customs stamp on the receipt before departure.

Can you reclaim VAT on a Rimowa bought in the UK?

Not if you carry it home. The United Kingdom withdrew the VAT Retail Export Scheme in 2021, so goods bought in store and packed into your luggage no longer qualify for a refund. The one remaining route is having the retailer ship the item abroad — Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols all offer this — at the cost of shipping fees and a wait. That is why the UK figure does not move at all in the table below.

The Real Price After Tax Refunds, and Why the Order Changes

Stripping consumption tax out of the Trunk Plus shelf price, for the markets where a visitor can actually reclaim it, reorders the list:

Two things change the moment tax is accounted for. Singapore, the most expensive shelf price of the five, moves ahead of the United Kingdom, because the UK refunds nothing to departing visitors. And the gap between Sweden and Thailand widens from about THB 5,900 at the shelf to roughly THB 17,400 after the refund.

Japan changes its refund system on 1 November 2026 — what does that mean for buyers?

Travelling before 31 October 2026, you still pay the tax-excluded price at the till on presenting a passport. From 1 November, you pay the full tax-inclusive price in store and claim the refund at customs when leaving Japan, either at an airport terminal or through Visit Japan Web. The minimum purchase stays at JPY 5,000 before tax, and goods must be bought within 90 days of departure. Anyone planning a late-2026 trip should budget extra time at the airport.

The Last Checkpoint: Thai Customs on the Way Home

• The duty-free allowance is THB 20,000 — Thai Customs exempts personal effects brought in by a traveller when their combined value does not exceed THB 20,000.

• Every bag here clears that ceiling — even the cheapest, a Cabin bought in Sweden at roughly THB 35,700, is nearly double the threshold.

• Above it, you take the red channel — an officer assesses duty on the spot, payable by cash or card. Non-commercial goods valued up to THB 200,000 can be assessed and settled at the airport.

• 7% VAT applies on top — calculated on the value of the goods plus the assessed duty. The duty rate itself depends on the item’s tariff classification.

The THB 17,400 gap calculated above is therefore a figure before this checkpoint. Anyone flying specifically to buy should add this cost before deciding.

Does a new suitcase bought abroad have to be declared?

Under Thai Customs rules, goods carried in with a combined value above THB 20,000 must be declared at the red channel. Prices in this comparison start at around THB 35,700, so every size in every market exceeds the threshold. The safest approach is to keep all receipts, take the red channel and let an officer assess it.

So Where Should You Buy the Rimowa Hybrid?

On shelf price alone, Sweden is cheapest and Singapore dearest. Factor in tax and the picture shifts: Sweden not only stays ahead but extends its lead roughly threefold, while the United Kingdom, which looked like the second-best deal, drops to the back because nothing is refundable. If a European itinerary already passes through Sweden, the case is worth carrying home. Flying out purely to buy one is a different calculation — airfare and Thai import duty will consume the difference, and buying domestically comes with a local receipt and local warranty support.
