All-inclusive delivery packages at eight private hospitals in Bangkok run from THB 49,900 to THB 169,000, and every one of them bundles the same three blocks: the medical team, a set allowance of room time, and newborn screening. What separates them is the detail inside those three blocks.

The sharpest difference is how many conditions the newborn is screened for, which ranges from a basic panel of roughly five to seven items up to a metabolic and genetic screen covering 40 diseases. The second is eligibility: some hospitals require antenatal visits at that same hospital before the package price applies at all.

These 8 Hospitals Offer More Tiers Than the Post Shows

The figures circulating are each hospital’s entry package. Almost every hospital sells higher tiers above it, and those tiers differ mainly in nights and room grade.

What Does the Higher Tier Actually Add?

Mostly nights and room grade. MedPark moves from an Executive Room to a Presidential Suite with a lake or river view; Praram 9 tiers purely by recovery nights, from two up to four.

Samitivej Sukhumvit is the outlier. Its Exclusive tier adds a full set of services for the mother rather than just time: a facial treatment, postnatal massage, hair analysis, nursing wear, a professional newborn photography session and a diamond pendant.

The Mother’s Room and the Nursery Are Counted Separately, and 3 Hospitals Count in Hours

Most packages write the room allowance as two separate lines, one for the mother’s room and one for the newborn nursery. ViMUT spells it out: a Standard Cozy room for the mother for two nights, plus a nursery room for the baby for two nights.

The unit of measure is not consistent either. Bangkok Hospital counts 48 hours for a normal delivery and 72 hours for a cesarean. Bumrungrad writes its natural-birth allowance as 60 hours from admission. Samitivej names its packages after the hours outright, at 72 and 96. The rest count in nights.

That distinction matters when planning, because an hours-based allowance starts running at admission rather than at midnight, so arriving in the evening and arriving in the morning do not buy the same amount of real time.

40 Diseases Is What Bumrungrad and Samitivej Screen the Newborn For

Every package includes newborn screening, but the list each hospital publishes is nowhere near the same length.

Vaccines are near-identical across the board: BCG, the first hepatitis B dose, vitamin K and prophylactic eye drops. The extra length in some lists comes entirely from the additional screening panels.

Which Hospitals Screen for G6PD and Congenital Heart Disease?

G6PD enzyme deficiency screening is itemised at ViMUT. Pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease appears at ViMUT, MedPark and Bumrungrad, with MedPark naming the test CCHD directly.

A test absent from a package list does not mean the hospital does not offer it, only that it is ordered and billed separately. It is worth asking for the specific screens you want by name before buying the package.

A Cesarean Timed at 1 AM Costs THB 41,000 More at Bumrungrad, and Samitivej Will Not Do One at All

Timing a cesarean to an auspicious hour is genuinely planned for by Thai families, and it is the point where two hospitals take opposite positions on the exact same window.

• Bumrungrad states that a cesarean scheduled between 21:00 and 07:00 carries an additional THB 41,000, taking the total from THB 169,000 to THB 210,000

• Samitivej Sukhumvit states that it does not perform cesarean sections between 21:00 and 07:00, on safety grounds

Bumrungrad also writes the workaround into its terms: when surgery is scheduled for 07:01 to 09:00 the following morning, the mother may be admitted from 22:00 the night before at no additional charge, subject to bed availability, with pre-surgical preparation capped at four hours before anything is billed as incurred.

Fewer Than 2 Antenatal Visits at ViMUT and the Package Rate Does Not Apply

Eligibility is the section most readers skip, and it decides whether the advertised price is the price. ViMUT lists its conditions individually: the patient must be Thai or a foreign national married to a Thai citizen, must be at least 37 weeks pregnant, and must have attended at least two antenatal appointments at ViMUT.

Samitivej reserves its packages for Thai nationals and legal residents, requires registration before service, and does not allow them to be combined with other promotions. Bangkok Hospital notes that the rates on its Thai page apply to Thai nationals and expatriates, and must be settled in cash or through a domestic insurer.

How Many Weeks Pregnant Do You Need to Be?

The common threshold is 36 weeks for a single pregnancy and 35 weeks for twins, as BNH specifies. ViMUT sets its own bar at 37 weeks. Deliver earlier than the stated threshold and the bill reverts to itemised charges rather than the flat package rate.

The purchase window and the service window are also different periods. ViMUT applies this rate to mothers beginning antenatal care between 1 May and 31 December 2026, while the package itself remains usable until 31 December 2027. Praram 9 sells until 31 December 2026 with service through 31 January 2027.

A Family Portrait Is Included, a Vacuum Extractor Is Not

The take-home items are where the packages diverge most visibly, and several carry real cost if bought separately.

• Bangkok Hospital includes a 20×30-inch family portrait from a studio, a newborn gift set with a health record book, an antenatal education course and Chivawattana Junior membership

• Bumrungrad includes a breast pump during the stay, special postnatal meals, a nursing cover, newborn photographs and footprints, and Baby Club membership until the child turns 15, carrying 10% off outpatient medication and off inpatient medication and room charges

• Samitivej Sukhumvit includes one year of Well Kidz Club membership, an organic baby product set, a commemorative photograph, luggage and a nursing pillow

• MedPark includes newborn photographs, a keepsake frame with handprints and footprints, nursing wear and a nursing pillow, a cooling bag, a birth certificate cover and a cervical cancer screening coupon

• Vibhavadi includes a baby outfit and gift set, one day of incubator access and a temperature-control blanket

The exclusions deserve equal attention. Nearly every hospital states the same four: complications affecting mother or baby, room charges beyond the stated allowance, pre-existing conditions unrelated to the delivery, and antenatal care as a separate package. ViMUT adds that assisted-delivery instruments such as vacuum extractors and forceps are not covered, and Vibhavadi excludes phototherapy for jaundice and any NICU admission.

What Happens if a Natural Birth Converts to a Cesarean Mid-Labour?

Each hospital handles it differently. Bangkok Hospital sells a dedicated package for exactly that scenario. MedPark states the additional surgical fee is charged on top of the natural-birth package already purchased. Bumrungrad states that where the newborn develops complications, THB 15,000 is deducted from the package and charges revert to actual cost.
